In the aftermath of the Mumbai Terror attacks, a top official has told how the terrorists holed up at two luxury hotels did not make any demands and had already killed most of the hostages before the commandoes arrived.
The report comes days after the only terrorist captured alive reportedly told Mumbai police he had been ordered to "kill until his last breath".
Azam Amir Kasab, 21, a Pakistan national, told interrogators the attacks had been carefully planned six months ago and were intended to kill 5000 people.
Kasab said the mastermind of the plot told the attackers to "target whites, preferably Americans and British", reported The Guardian newspaper.
A police source said Kasab relayed his answers in a "dispassionate way", as if it was "of no real consequence".
"I have done right," he told investigators. "I have no regrets."
National Security Guard (NSG) chief J K Dutt said they did not receive any demands from terrorists stationed at the Taj and Trident-Oberoi Hotels, saying they appeared to have come with express intent of "killing as many people as they could."
Is one man's terrorist another's freedom fighter?
No.

| | | | | Bree,
I think in SOME instances there is the possible arguement that one mans terrorist ins the other man freedom fighter. In this case, clearly not. India and Pakistan have a long history of hatred and Pakistanis have been making assaults on India's communities for many years.
As far as I'm aware, they are disputing over Kashmir, which India believes is their land and Pakistan believes the Kashmiri people should decide who they wish to rule them.
I can't see any situation here why any man would see these 20 men as freedom fighters.

| | | | | mmmm....in a way I agree, but I think the 'whys' are extremely important as well. A group uprising against a tyranny and dictatorship are considered a freedom fighters, or certainly, the rest of the world often turns their heads to one side and allow it to happen. Afterall, if democracy is the end result, it's okay right?
One oppressive regime, fighting another is less approved of, and in those circumstances, they are frowned on and labelled Terrorists.
Don't get me wrong, I'm with you on the appalling acts of cowardice, the gunning down of innocent people, the bombs and the grenades....but I'm also not kidding myself, a nice 'clean' war like in Iraq is not much better in my book. We are still killing innocents that did not invite us onto their lands to fight their fight.
All wars are dirty. All wars cause misery and destruction. The way they are fought and why they are fought is what makes war more palatable

precisely
harassing supply lines, attacking troop barracks or convoys, blowing up weapons and ammunition storage sites....
these are the tactics of a "freedom fighter".....
blowing up bus loads of school children, slaughtering tourists in hotels, chopping off heads of hostages....
those are the tactics of the islamic terrorist....
|
| | | | | Barry, I agree.
How about the funding of terrorists? Does that make you one by association? I'm just curious because many countries have helped fund and support bands of men, leaders, who have then been called terrorists. American supporting the IRA for example. They were terrorists.
The reasons why also come into play
Bring on the Trumpets!!! Bring on the Trumpets!!! |
