Did You Know? According to The Center for Disease Control Trends in Pregnancies and Pregnancy Rates by Outcome Vital Health Stat (21)56 done in January 2000... ~983,000 babies died in 1996, from miscarriage and stillbirth. ~In 1995, 15.7% of pregnancies ended in fetal demise, miscarriage or stillbirth. ~Those figures don't include neonatal loss, SIDS, or other causes.
Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day is to promote Support, Education and Awareness for grieving parents nationwide (and worldwide).
Too many families grieve in silence, sometimes never coming to terms with their loss. The goal of October 15th is to help others relate to our loss, know what to say/do or not say/not do and to help families live with their loss, not "get over" their loss. |
