This is what I saw out my back door, less than a few miles north, from me, at approximately 2:40PM, CDT.

Very impressive slide show:

Oh yeah Baleigh, I'm fine! Thanks!

Not to say that my blood didn't run cold when I opened my back door to see two funnel clouds within miles apart from each other just maybe 5 miles away from me.. *grins* .. then the sirens went off about that time.. *wipes my brow*

Geographically, these tornados were between Marked Tree and Lepanto AR, so they were twisting on farmland, not in any residential area, thank God!

SP, this was my second experience with tornadic activity since I moved from out in the County, to the City Limits.
I've always been used to being able to "see" what was coming my way instead of having it proverbally knocking on my back door before they sounded the sirens. *chuckles*

Remembering while living out in the country, 5 years ago this month, was my worst and most fearful time in my life. Then we were under tornado warnings. I will never forget the smell of the air and feeling the barometer falling so fast, that my ears were literally stopping up as I stood at the dining room window, watching things unfold. The air had a distinct 'electrical burn' smell to it, as the 40 foot pine trees were bending at least doubled over, all mixed with the scent of freshly turned earth.

I've never been one to be scared of storms;
I would usually be out in the carport or walking the patio, observing.. but that time.. no.. our lights were flickering in a very different way, then out they went!

Straight line winds were clocked at well over 100+ mph.. actually hearing the 'roar of the freight train', convinced me to head for the first time, to my walk-in closet doorway. There I stood, my arm on the door facing, praying, as I leaned my head onto my hand, I could feel my home shaking and vibrating.. hearing things fly by hitting other things. Quite freaky to say the least!

I suppose that time was the first time I've encountered the verocity involved with these powerful storms. Kinda like HELL being unleashed. After that, it seems I'm no longer 'afraid' of storms but I do give them the respect they certainly deserve!
