| | | | There has been a lot of hype for the new Rock Band game. Can it live up to it? I say hells yes!
The game comes with a mic, drum kit and one wired guitar.(The mic and drum kit are wired as well) (If you have any of the guitars from guitar hero you probably will not like the strat that comes with rock band) For a complete band experience you need another guitar for bass. (Luckily if you do have any of the guitar hero guitars you can use that)
Now once you put the game in you will notice you get alot more choices with this game as far as character appearance goes. Of course in our house we see who can make their character look the most like them.
Like the G.H. series you can pick quick play or career but in career it is all about getting the fans so you can move upward as opposed to the money.
It takes a minute to get the hang of the drums. You tend to have to fight the urge to bang away like crazy.Our friend who is a drummer came over to test it out and he was totally lost. He actually gave up trying to get the hang of it, but the 11 y/o in the house is awesome on the kit....
I would say guitar is easier on rock band than on the G.H. series...Especially G.H. 3....(I hate that freakin' Slayer song!)
Bass is fun! I like to go back and forth on different songs...
To sing they are looking for you to match up your ~phrases~ with the song..(Your singing over the artist) I am a horrible singer so am waiting to be home alone to try the singing but my other half is a singer and OOOOPPPPS...he blew the DUST COVERS off of 2 of the drivers in our definitive technology speakers.....(We don't turn it that load anymore!)
In career mode you will find its a lot more like being in a real band. You have to follow set lists and end up playing the same songs over and over in different cities/countries.
It has some great songs, some good songs, and some songs that make you say why? and of course x-box live is going to be adding downloadable content weekly so save up your points!
We bought the metallica pack and am proud to say we got through blackened on medium...(You'll see why if you ever play it..dag..)
continued play can make you a bit sore....My ~strumming wrist is not happy but that is after like 6 hours of play over the course of a day/evening yesterday...
and apparently until you get used to the foot pedal your foot can get ~tired~ too....
Now....All this fun isn't cheap.....
If you already have one of the core systems then I would say buy buy buy! (IF you can find it anywhere)
If not well expect to spend at least 600 bucks just to pick up the system, game and extra guitar.
I think its freakin' great to sit around the livingroom with the whole ~family~ jammin' out together.....

I can't wait to see whats going to pop off next!
(Also..gamers..If you haven't already you MUST check out Call of Duty 4:modern warfar) its freakin' sweet!)

| | | | Rock band is pretty cool. A note about the drums though; if you're used to playing analog drums, they DO feel weird but if you play a set of Roland V-Drums, they actually feel like a clunkier version of them. The pads are a lot less sensitive and their threshold seems to be somewhere between "King Kong" and "12 year old boy angry at Daddy". Subtle instruments they are not.
CoD4 is...alright. I can see where they are trying to go with it but they will never be as good as the original Rainbow Six.
